The Château de la Moutte will be made available to the School of Music by the Conservatoire du Littoral, convinced that this high-quality project will bring life back to the Domaine in keeping with its history and
preservation.
The investment program
The funding required to kick off the School project covers three main areas :
The renovation of buildings (main building and outbuildings) and landscaping to restore the park to its original beauty, under the responsibility of the chief architect for Historical Monuments.
0,8 M.euros
The outfitting of part of the building (la Toscane) as study rooms and concert halls in accordance with teaching needs.
Estimated at 1,8 M.euros
The purchase of equipment and fixtures needed for pupils (particularly pianos, including concert grands).
Estimated at 0,7 M.euros
Operating costs
Operating costs (permanent staff of around ten, VIP expenses, maintenance and repairs etc.) are estimated at
0,6 M.euros per school
year.
The annual teaching budget is around 0,8 M. euros, which includes the salaries of permanent staff plus the fees of guest
teachers.
Accommodation costs for 50 students are estimated at 0,5 M.euros for 8 months at the
school.
The funding plan counts on European and French subsidies to cover operating costs and part of the teaching budget.
Private sponsors will be sought to provide study grants to fund shortfalls in the teaching and student accommodation budgets.
Musical activities such as concerts outside the School framework could bring in additional revenue.
